ABOUT THE SONG

The Addams Family Theme was written and arranged by Vic Mizzy for the original television series, which premiered in 1964. The original published key is B♭ major, and the piece is in 4/4 time. Its instantly recognisable sound comes from the harpsichord, bass clarinet and especially the famous finger snaps, which Mizzy incorporated into the rhythm of the theme. The theme was popular enough to be released as a single and has remained closely associated with the Addams Family ever since. On ukulele, it is a great piece for practising swing feel, chord changes, rhythm and coordinated stops and snaps.
